If you are not a member of the ARRL then you should seriously consider it if you respect and value your hobby. The ARRL is the only lobby for hams in congress. If you think your hobby is safe from the frequency vultures then think again!! Even our congressmen do not think highly of us or they would be more supportive of the frequency protection act.  There are only 2 hams in congress.  Consider the fact that the frequency protection act more or less protects us from the FCC.  This body was once a highly technical group to help guide congress in matters of the airways.  They are now a political body made up of lawyers and others who have no business on the commission.  The FCC now flows with the political winds of Washington and we stand around bad mouthing the ARRL.  Wake up or one day we will be the future CBer's with no need for a license and very little band spectrum to work in.
