Our home was the builders home who built the subdivision, it is a custom home. The layout and design was to our liking and the basic structure was good but I found he cut corners everywhere. I have spent a lot of money updating and resolving the poor quality or minimal requirements for our home. Today very few issues remain and I will resolve those soon. Since my wife died in 2018 I have redone most of the landscaping to keep it simple, she was the gardener, I was the mower.

I would suggest that anyone building a new home make sure the contract contains requirements for compacted clean fill around the foundation otherwise it will be filled with construction debris. I have dug enough bricks out from around my foundation to build a small fireplace as well as piles of mortar. I have also found electrical debris in my yard.
